"At Orphanage Outreach, it doesn't matter who you are, where you come from, what group you traveled with, or how long you stayed. What matters is the time that you share with children who otherwise would have nothing welcoming you into their home and wanting to play with you. Orphanage Outreach is a program that I would recommend to anyone and I hope to come back someday soon in the future."

"People come in and out of your life and as long as you are able to take advantage of this opportunity you'll never forget the difference that you made."
"Orphanage Outreach was a great experience for me and I promise that it will be a fantastic experience for you, too!"

High School Teams

An Orphanage Outreach trip is an excellent alternative break experience for high school teams. Your trip with Orphanage Outreach is primarily a service-learning trip. Your team will be involved in providing opportunities to orphaned, abandoned, and disadvantaged children. They may be teaching English in a local grade school, tutoring orphanage children, or building needed facilities. Many high school students have told us their week with Orphanage Outreach was the most impactful week of their life.

International Cultural Service-Learning Immersion

In addition to the service, you will also have an opportunity to explore a part of the island for additional cultural experiences:
  • Perhaps visiting a rice processing plant
  • Significant historical locations
  • The Haiti/Dominican farmer's market (featured in National Geographic)
  • National park beach.

Why Orphanage Outreach?

A Turn-Key Approach
If you haven't led a team to a developing country before (and even if you have), you will appreciate the "turn key" approach we take. We will purchase the insurance, meet you at the airport, arrange the meals, housing, ground transportation, and projects. You'll still be busy, but it will be time well spent working with and supporting your team members, not managing basic logistics.

Your team's safety and health are our number one priority. Our large team of American and Canadian staff living and working with you in country will make sure you have a safe and rewarding experience.

Experienced/Safe
Our program has been running and making an impact since 1994; over 8000 volunteers have joined us during that time and never have we had the personal safety of a volunteer be threatened.  Your team will live on the orphanage property in Orphanage Outreach "Summer Camp" facilities.

Effective/Focused
We focus on real needs in the community, and match them with real resources of our volunteer teams. The education system is the very poor; we focus on teaching in the schools and in the summer providing learning camps - English, reading, art, music, Christian education.  All with a fun, interactive approach!

Affordable
For teams of 10 or more, the program donation for the week is $500/person; for children under age 18 traveling with a parent the program donation is just $200/week.  The program donation includes all housing, all meals, ground transportation, and insurance.  Airfare is additional.  For every 10 non-child volunteers, we waive the  program donation for the 11th.
