College ProgramsEach year hundreds of college students make a tremendous impact in the lives of many children! We invite all majors and minors to get involved."My trip to the Dominican Republic was unforgettable. The children are some of the most loving, compassionate, beautiful people in this world and I am so proud to say that I now have a place for 27 new children in my heart- para siempre."

High School ProgramsEach year hundreds of college students make a tremendous impact in the lives of many children! We invite all majors and minors to get involved."THE TRIP IS AMAZING! From start to finish you feel like you are helping and really impacting the lives of many young children who are not as fortunate as we are. The trip not only opened my eyes to the poverty of the Dominican Republic, but it showed me how the children live using everything they can to survive, and also how I can help. The experiences I have taken from this trip will last forever, even if the friendships made there don't, and I will always remember the little smiling faces at the school and at the orphanage."

Health Corps ProfessionalsOrphanage Outreach is an American non-profit organization that has been working in the northwest part of the Dominican Republic since 1994. Over 8000 international volunteers have joined us since 1994, with the majority of focus being on education. Originally focused solely on the local orphanages, thanks to volunteer growth the focus has expanded to include additional needs in the community. One area of true need is health education and treatment."Working with Orphanage Outreach was one of the best service opportunities in which I have participated. It was a terrific opportunity to see the poverty and need that exists in other countries and have a chance to help make things a little better. I would highly recommend this program to anyone else."

Individual VolunteersEach year many volunteers travel with us solo. You don't need to have a team to make a big difference!"When we got there, all those kids wanted was a hand to hold or a leg to grab onto. It was obvious from day one that these kids needed our attention more than any English practice. By loving these kids and putting smiles on their faces, regardless of language barriers, you've already completed the mission of Orphanage Outreach."

Orphanage Outreach English Education Fund
Orphanage Outreach is focused on providing opportunities for both the children of the orphanage and the children of the town of Monte Cristi. Probably the most powerful way to empower children is through education. The children of Monte Cristi live in a town of limited educational opportunities, non-existent extracurricular activities, and minimal job opportunities. They will most likely be competing with better educated children from Santiago and Santo Domingo for the better educational opportunities and better jobs when they graduate.
One of the areas where Orphanage Outreach volunteers can make the most difference is in teaching English. Each volunteer has strong English skills. The children of the Dominican Republic want to learn English, because it will provide improved educational and career opportunities. But there are a very limited number of English teachers in the Dominican Republic, especially in Monte Cristi. Our goal is that eventually each graduating senior in Monte Cristi will be able to speak English. In September of 2006, we opened the Orphanage Outreach English School and invited all Monte Cristi 5th graders to begin English 1.
